We all agree to the fact that Kids are gift to us from God, a gift that must be nurtured with care and affection. However, not all kids around the country are lucky enough to get such love and care from their family. In addition, the most highlighting fact is that this segment includes a quite large number of kids. The socio-economic and cultural problems force these kids to step out of schools and do jobs to earn a livelihood for themselves and their family.

The Law states that children are not allowed to work. It is because kids at their tender age must study, play, and enjoy their childhood instead of being burdened by the responsibilities of earning for their family. Child labour is a very complex issue that crops up mainly in a poverty-stricken society. Therefore, to effectively fight the issue of child labour you need to tackle a number of factors that force children to work. Child labour as a whole is an outcome of various socio-economic surroundings, including poverty.

India’s position in terms of child labour is not substantial. To be very specific we have the largest number of working children in the world with estimates that range from 60 to 115 million. Making kids of work in the smelting heat of stone quarries, working in field for 16 hours in a day, picking rags from city streets, or stealthily appointing as domestic help, these kids have a very appalling and miserable life. They struggle day in and out to get their daily meal and also to feed their families as well.

The practise of child labour in India deprives kids of their childhood, and at the same time is harmful for their mental as well as physical growth. Poverty, deficiency of good government schools as well as informal growth in economy is one of the most important causes of child labour in India.

Child labour is an issue of human right around the world as an extensive number of kids under the age of 14, work in glass blowing units, carpet making factories, in addition to making of fireworks simply with their delicate bare hands. At times injuries and casualties occurred in such factories are not brought in to the attention of the government. Complete removal of child labour is possible only when everyone comes forward to cooperate with all sections of the society, including the law enforcement agencies. The foremost step must be minimizing or removing the major causes that lead to child labour.

that is a real shame to have child labour …… because in INDIA unemployment is a very serious issue… then why do we need small buddies as our labourers…. ? without education nothing possible in this technologically developed world… so please give them the freedom to enjoy their fundamental right…. ” veedu varai manaivi… veedhi varai uravu… kaadu varai pillai kadaisi varai yaaro….?” is a famous tamil saying now it has become… “VEEDU VARAI MANAIVI… VEEDHI VARAI URAVU… KAADU VARAI PILLAI.. KADASI.. VARAI ‘KALVI’”….
